Crash Rock-a-Fort in Windows 7, #1976

#1

I went to talk to the hermit to get the quest for the golden ant, then went back down to the saving booth and saved. Then I get a crash somewhere between loading this save and rock-a-fort. Sometimes I manage to spend some time in the cave, sometimes it comes sooner.

An unhandled win32 exception occurred in frogatto.exe [1976].

System: Windows 7 SP1, 64 bit.

Frogatto.exe is dated 15.11.2012 on my system.

Let me know if you need any more info and I’ll try to get it for you.

The problem disappeared after a system reboot, so I think we can ignore this one for now. I’ll let you know if this happens again.

#3

It has happened again. I can’t pinoint this to a fixed location or action; seems to be pretty at random.

#4

Puzzling…
Perhaps if you upload the savefile that can help things.

Googling turns up this page: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/Vsexpressinstall/thread/24b356ad-59ef-446f-aa8b-df6b55fa78bb
Try that? :-\

#6

“Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only” was already on.

The crashes still happen, pretty much at random. I can’t tie them to any specific place in the game or action performed.

I have attached my current save file.

save.cfg (81.4 KB)

I now have a save that consitently crashes. Go to the right and pick up the bouncing heart, when the HP should be added, it crashes. #1548 this time.

If I work my way arund that and go right, past the bombers and the abyss to the right, loading the next screen (Hidden Depths) crashes, #3720.

Rebooting Windows didn’t help.

save.cfg (138.3 KB)

Uh oh. Could you attach you stderr/stdout text? (Either or should be in the folder where you installed Frogatto to.) I can’t reproduce the crash from your save on my machine. :frowning:

#9

I would if I could find these files. Nothing in Program files (x86)/frogatto or %Appdata%/frogatto.

I have worked past the crash and am currently playing, do you need me to restart and provoke the crash again in order to generate the files?

#10

It might be immaterial, since if the files aren’t there they’re probably not being generated. I think you’d have to reproduce the crash, though. :frowning:

I’m gonna have to pass this on to Krista.

OK; try this one. It’s newer. http://www.frogatto.com/devbuilds/frogatto-setup-i386-1.3RC4.exe
edit: Wait, I lie. Try this one. http://db.tt/TzppB8D4

I will, thanks

#13

This works, no more crashes. You’re my hero
