The 1.0 source INSTALL file doesn’t mention a lib which is required for building: libglew-dev. I’ve read somewhere on the site, that you need it for running the game, but please add it to the INSTALL file too. Update: and you also need the libboost-system-dev, and on Debian you don’t have libboost-asio, but libasio, but it works.

We’ve add those to the INSTALL file, so they’ll be there for next release - thanks for the report!
